Lucky Borussia defeats AEM Limassol

Last Thursday Borussia Mönchengladbach qualifies for the Round of 32 in the UEFA Europa League with a game to spare.

Wendt, Xhaka and  Mlapa celebrate with Igor de Camargo
Lucien Favre made one change to the side that started against Stuttgart in the Bundesliga, opting for the more attack-minded Alexander Ring instead of Lukas Rupp on the right of midfield.

It was a really bad game from Borussia and espacially in the first half, Limassol was the better team.
The Zypries Champions had a better attidude and fought more than Borussia.
As always in recent weeks, the game of Borussia was a spectacle of bad passes.

In the 74 minute Borussia´s Lucien Favre made a lucky change.
De Camargo took the place of Hanke in attack.
Five minutes later he scored the 1:0 and in the 90 minute he scored again.
With more luck than talent, Borussia hybernates in the europe league.

At the moment there's no fun to watch their matches :(

Borussia suffer defeat at home to Stuttgart

The 52,120 fans at BORUSSIA PARK witnessed a bright start to the match with Gladbach looking lively from the kick-off.

...the tragic hero

Martin Stranzl scored in the 7th minute, when he volleyed a headed clearance into the bottom right corner of the net from 20 yards out – it was the Austrian’s third goal of the season.

Borussia’s lead was not to last long: VfB hit straight back with Martin Harnik converting a Christian Molinaro cross that left Marc-André ter Stegen helpless as the visitors levelled on 9 minutes.

...in the first half borussia was clearly the better team.

Stuttgart posed one more serious threat in the first half when Ibrahima Traore hit a free kick just over the bar from the edge of the penalty area. Borussia had a great chance to retake the lead through Stranzl when the 32-year-old turned a pass from Hanke towards the left corner of the net but the Stuttgart goalkeeper pulled off another save.

In the second half, Borussia pressed forward in determined mood, pushed Stuttgart further and further back, but they failed to create many clear goalscoring opportunities.

Gladbach were then unlucky to go behind on 72 minutes when Brouwers deflected a Kuzmanovic into his own net.

Just the reliable Brouwers determinates the match with his own goal and Borussia sank to the 11th place in the table.

F... ..f!

...and again Arango.

Arango scored in the last Minute
A very important point in the extra time.

In the 93rd minute Borussias life insurance,
called Juan Arango, saved one big point in
the Euro-League against Olympic Marseilles.

The four minutes of added time was almost over when Tony Jantschke put the ball through to Lukas Rupp on the right wing. Lukas sent a delightful cross into the box for Juan Arango to leave the France goalkeeper Steve Mandanda helpless as he tucked the ball into the far corner.

...and again without the loudmouth Granit Xhaka.

Without the self-proclaimed hero, the team once again showed significantly more stable.

Supposedly Lazio Rome offers 10 millions for Xhaka. If that's true, Borussia shouldn´t think
for a minute. This guy doesn´t match to
Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Blast it!!

That was really annoying and unnecessary.

Wednesday night Borussia downed in the second-round stage of the DFB Cup.
Lucien Favre's men lost 1-0 after extra time at Fortuna Düsseldorf.

The Coach fielded the same side that beat Hannover 3-2 in the Bundesliga at the weekend. Martin Stranzl again started at right-back for Tony Jantschke, with Roel Brouwers partnering Alvaro Dominguez in central defence.

A sold-out 52,500 crowd at the Esprit Arena saw Borussia dominate in the opening stages.
Until halftime Borussia had numerous opportunities for leadership. But Düsseldorfs keeper "Giefer" had an excellent day.
The biggest chance in the first half fell to Herrmann, who brilliantly evaded the challenges of Juanan and Levels but was denied from close range by the keeper.

In the second half Düsseldorf was better organized, but Borussia still had the better chances.

The biggest chance of the game was defused by Ter Stegen in the 84th minute when referee Knut Kircher pointed to the spot for a foul by Arango on Kruse after the Venezuelan had lost his footing in the penalty area. Langeneke struck the spot-kick low to Ter Stegen's left, and the Germany keeper got down to make the save to take the game to extra-time.

Durinf the extra time Düsseldorfs goal was nailed by their keeper "Giefer". He defused some further Borussia chances, until Düsseldorfs Rafael scored the winning goal in the 97th minute.

That´s soccer: if you don´t use your opportunities, you´ll be punished!!
Congratulation to Düsseldorf.
